Completed in 1857 and having just undergone a major revamp, the Kyneton Magistrates’ Court, also known as the Kyneton Court House, is the earliest surviving courthouse in Victoria. Many famous figures in Victorian legal history have appeared in the Kyneton Court House including bushranger Ned Kelly and William Lavender, the first police magistrate at Kyneton. Today, the Kyneton Court House hears a significant number of intervention orders and domestic violence and family cases, which prompted its recent upgrade to ensure the safety and security of its constituents.

The Kyneton Magistrates’ Court is located at 1A Hutton Street in Kyneton, Macedon Ranges Shires, Victoria 3444, behind the Kyneton Town Hall. The court’s phone number is (03) 4465 3102 and their email address is kynetoncoordinator@courts.vic.gov.au. It is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 4:00pm.
